Crocker School Children Will Receive Weekend Meals Thanks to Grant from S & R Insurance and its Partner, MAX

(June 19, 2017) – Sixty Crocker School District children will receive nutritious meals on weekends and holidays thanks to a gift from a local insurance agency and its partner insurance provider.

The Crocker School District Backpack Program sends backpacks filled with food for under privileged children.

“We are thrilled to help this very worthwhile program,” said Steve Rees of the S&R Insurance Agency.  “Thanks to a generous grant from our partner, MAX Insurance and its Mutual Aid Ministries program, we can help these kids stay strong and healthy at times when they don’t have access to meals at school.”

Orphaned Calf Relief Program Receives Grant from Cherry Insurance and MAX Insurance

(June 15, 2017) – Four-H youth and families who have been raising orphaned calves since last spring’s wildfires received more support recently.

Cheri Martin of Cherry Insurance, Inc. in Montezuma requested a grant from MutualAid eXchange (“MAX”), one of its insurance providers. MAX and its Mutual Aid Ministries program approved the grant request and recently delivered it to the 4 Leaf Clover, 4-H Club Orphaned Calf Fund.

“Our entire community has been pulling together to help save and raise these calves, and to show our pride in the young people and their families who have taken on this big task,” said Cheri Martin.  “We are very grateful to MAX for their support in helping provide equipment that will make their job a bit easier.”  The grant will help purchase a wagon or wheelbarrows for several of the affected families.

Sounds of the Heart Receives Grant from Oswald Crow and MAX Insurance to Upgrade Heart Defibrillators

(June 9, 2017) – People suffering heart attacks in Lexington have a better chance of survival thanks to the network of external heart defibrillators put in place by “Sounds of the Heart.”  Now the organization wants to make one’s chances even better.

Betty Weddle, founder of Sounds of the Heart and an employee of Oswald Crow Agency, has undertaken an effort to upgrade some of the 22 AED’s already in place.  “They’re making better ones now with new features for use on children, plus better instructions,” she said.  “We’d like to get three new ones this year to replace some of the ones in our schools and public places.”

Ostego Knights in Shining Armor Receive Grant from Area Insurance Agency

(May 30, 2017) – If you thought knights were a thing of the past, you aren’t familiar with the Knights in Shining Armor from Otsego High School.

This group of community minded students provides aid and support to families suffering from property loss or serious illness.  To recognize their great work, a local insurance agency has joined with one of its insurance providers to donate $1,000 to help the group continue its good works.

“I am extremely proud of these students, seeing past themselves to address the needs of others,” said Joseph Schroeder of the Robert K. Miller Agency of Weston, OH.  “They recently provided gift cards and other support to a school district employee who was suffering from lung cancer.  These are great young men and women, doing meaningful things for our community.”

Cook Insurance and MutualAid eXchange (MAX) Donate to Restore Damaged Seymour Cemetery

(CENTERVILLE, IA) – Families and friends of the Seymour Cemetery in Wayne County, IA can rest easier knowing that their loved ones’ headstones and monuments are being restored after last month’s tornado.

Dan Sales of Cook Insurance in Centerville requested funding from MutualAid eXchange (“MAX”) Insurance, to repair and reset the 65 headstones damaged by the March 6th storm.  “Community service is important to us at Cook Insurance, as well as at MAX,” Sales said.  “A representative from the company’s Mutual Aid Ministries program contacted me a few days after the storm to see if they could be helpful to our community.  I told them about the cemetery damage and explained that the cemetery had very limited resources.   Within a couple of weeks, MAX contributed $5,000 for the restoration of the cemetery.”
