MAX and Horizon Insurance Group Donate to Newly Formed Girl Scout Troop in Moulton

(MOULTON, IA) – A new Girl Scout troop in the Moulton, IA community is off to a good start thanks to a grant from MutualAid eXchange (“MAX”) Insurance and its agency partner, Horizon Insurance Group of Centerville.  Girl Scout Troop 1147 can purchase startup supplies like handbooks and uniforms for the girls, plus supplies needed for meetings and campouts.

Mary Boyd of Horizon Insurance Group requested funding from MAX Insurance to help purchase some of the items Troop 1147 needs in its beginning stage.  “Horizon Insurance Group is excited to show support to this new Girl Scout troop being formed in the Moulton community,” Boyd said.  “We know how important it is for the girls to have their handbooks, uniforms and supplies, so this grant will help them off on the right foot.  Our agency has supported the Centerville Girl Scouts in the past and we are just as thrilled to be supporting this new Moulton troop.”

Horizon Insurance/Hawk Insurance and MAX Fund Replacement Playground at Fairview Church of the Brethren

(CENTERVILLE, IA) – The children had barely used the new playground set at Fairview Church of the Brethren in Unionville, IA when the March 6th tornado destroyed it.  Church members had donated the money for the equipment, but now—with a damaged church roof and a high deductible policy—it was doubtful the congregation could afford another playground.

That’s when Susan Houser at Horizon and Hawk insurance shared the church’s story with one of its providers, MutualAid eXchange (“MAX”) Insurance.  MAX operates its own non-profit program called Mutual Aid Ministries which helps communities and families after unexpected financial crises.  In response to Houser’s request, MAX stepped in with $2,500 for a new playground set.

“Our agency and our people love this area and want to do our part when tragedy strikes,” Houser said.  “With MAX as our community partner, we can’t wait to get the new playground up and ready for the youth of Fairview Church.”
